API Tokens are an alternative to using passwords for authentication to Controlio when using the Controlio Data API. Each access token is personal and related to your current login.
As a security precaution all tokens have limited lifetimes. Expiration can be configured during the creation process.
Upon reaching your token's expiration date, the token is automatically revoked. When a token is expired or revoked, it can no longer be used to authenticate Controlio and API requests. It is not possible to restore an expired or revoked token, you will need to create a new token.
Warning: Treat your tokens like passwords and keep them safe. When working with the API, use tokens as environment variables instead of hardcoding them into your programs.
